Andante
Fernando Carulli
This Andante comes from the Méthode Complète by Fernando Carulli. It is a popular beginner's piece which appears quite long if you are learning guitar with little knowledge of score reading: two full pages! I played the piece as a starting amateur guitarist, it was included in The Classical Guitar, one of the fine anthologies, compiled by Frederick Noad.
The Italian Fernando Carulli (1770 - 1841) was an self-educated musician and well known guitarist. He settled in Paris where he performed on stage, composed and enjoyed himself in the presence of a crowd of fans.
He composed numerous short pieces that were quite suitable for beginners on the guitar. Further he compiled his Méthode Complète, a didactic work that is still in use in the present days.
