Ballet and Volta
Michael Praetorius
Michael Praetorius (1571 - 1621) was a German composer from the early Baroque era. His book Syntagma Musicum provides a nice description of the musical theory of those days and the used musical instruments. Beside writing this book, he collected and composed a large variety of Protestant church music.
This Ballet and Volta originates from a collection of dance music called Terpsichore, named afer one of the Muses from the Greek Mythology.
The arrangement with the 6th string to D is not quite simple to play, but it is worth the effort. Ballet has a stately tempo and requires a clear approach to all voices. La Volta is a fast dance with a few difficult measures. Practice makes the master here!
