Charme de la Nuit (Nocturne)
José Ferrer
This piece was composed by the Spanish composer Jose Ferrer (1835-1916), a contemporary of Francisco Tarrega and Miguel Llobet. The piece is a little gem with a nice sentimental and romantic mood.
Ferrer dedicated quite a number of his pieces to other people. Charme de la Nuit is dedicated to one of his pupils, Elisabeth Osborne. Little is known about this lady, but this charming souvenir of her personality has survived the years.
An Andante sets the mood. The subsequent Cantabile provides ample opportunity for romantic playing.
