Double
Johann Sebastian Bach
This Double originates from Partita in B minor BWV 1002 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) and forms a higher tempo supplement to the Sarabande.
It was quite common in those days for composers to write a faster variation on dances from a suite, a so called Double. The Double is built around the same melodic and harmonious structure like the Sarabande, but must be played at a much higher tempo.
