Maria Luisa (Mazurka)
Julio Sagreras
Maria Luisa is the second piece of the little suite Tres Piezas Faciles by the Argentine Julio Sagreras (1879 - 1942), a suite he dedicated to his sister Maria Luisa. This Mazurka bears her name. Play it with elegance and try to express the feeling for the lady in a passionate mazurka rythm.
The Argentine Julio Sagreras was a guitarist and composer. His parents were both guitarists, so it is not surprising that he learnt to love te guitar from his early childhood. He studied piano and composition at the Conservatory and later on started his own school, La Academia de Guitarra. After graduating he gave many recitals, before audiences and on the radio. His best known works are his guitar method Lecciones de Guitarra and some virtuoso pieces like El Colibri, the famous tremolo piece.
