Partita in A
Giuseppe Brescianello
This is the Partita in A Major for callichone -lute-like stringed instrument from the Baroque era- by the Italian composer Giuseppe Brescianello (1690 - 1757). The partita has four movements, Entree (Marcia), Gavotte, Menuet, and the concluding Gigue.
Brescianello supposedly was born in Bologna. As a young man het took off to Germany in search of his musical fortune. He became court musician in Munich and musical director in Stuttgart, where he died in 1757. Besides chamber music, his compositions include 18 partitas/sonatas for callichone, a rewarding source for baroque music for guitar.
This partita is fun to play. Play the movements at a joyful tempo.
