Pensees du Soir

José Ferrer

This piece was composed by the Spanish composer Jose Ferrer Esteve de Fujadas (1835-1916), a contemporary of Francisco Tarrega and Miguel Llobet. Ferrer wrote a few pieces in the typical 19th century style Musique de Salon.

Ferrer dedicated quite a number of his pieces to other people. Souvenir de Quinze Aout is dedicated to one of his pupils, Jeanne Carré. Little is known about this lady, but this charming souvenir of her personality has survived the years.

Pensées du Soir is not the most easy piece to play. With careful attention for the melody and the chord changes in the end it is possible to play the piece at a comfortable tempo. An introduction finally leads to an enjoyable Cantabile.
