Ronde

Adriaen Denss

This is a Ronde, a dance form from an anthology by Adrian Denss (~1545 -~1598). He was a German composer for the lute. He was born in the Flemish town of Antwerp and died in Cologne. He is mainly known for his anthology Florilegium which was published in Cologne in 1594, a few years before his death.

This Ronde characterizes itself as fragments with a fixed harmonic structure with rythmic variation. Play the piece briskly and joyfully, but take care with the last two themes, which are slightly more complex at faster speed.
