Classical Era

In the Classical period - late eighteenth century, beginning nineteenth century - the guitar had a golden age. A relatively small number of guitar composers - with Fernando Sor, Fernando Carulli, Mauro Giuliani, Napoleon Coste en Johann Kaspar Mertz as great examples - produced thousands of works.

According to tradition I started my guitar playing with the small pieces by Carulli and Carcassi. As soon as I learned to read scores quickly, my Classical repertoire extended rapidly. Consequently, the DOS Amigos Homepage has three parts with Classical music.

The volume Classical 1 contains music by Fernando Carulli (1770 - 1841), Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806 - 1856), Napoleon Coste (1805 - 1883) and Anton Diabelli (1781-1858). A special theme in this volume are the pieces from Musikalische Rundschau by Mertz. The book contains 140 pages of sheet music. For a leaf through, click here.

The volume Classical 2 contains music by Fernando Sor (1778 - 1839), Niccolo Paganini (1782 - 1840) en Luigi Legnani (1790 - 1877). A special theme in this volume are the studies by Fernando Sor. The book contains 136 pages of sheet music. For a leaf through, click here.

The volume Classical 3 contains music by Matteo Carcassi (1792 - 1853) en Mauro Giuliani (1781 - 1829). A special theme in this book involves the collections Terpsichore du Nord and Choix de mes Fleurs chéries by Giuliani. The book contains 128 pages of sheet music. For a leaf through, click here.

The price of each book is € 22.50, excluding shipping cost.
