Guitar Duo: South American
Many years ago, I discovered Latin American music by means of the collections Latin America, La Guitarra Mexicana and (to a lesser extent) Guitarra Andina by Gerald Schwertberger. A new world opened up for me, such enjoyable music. I did not merely play standard dance forms like Bossa Nova, Samba and Rumba (I remember them from my ballroom dancing lessons), I also found many charming folk songs. Even though I had some trouble with the rhythms, I started to love this music.
Besides I discovered a pleasant folk song form, the Modinha, melancholic love songs with a firm root in the Portuguese Fado. I arranged solo pieces for guitar and flute ensemble and converted them into guitar duos.
In this section you will find arrangements of Latin music, in particular from Brazil.
