Contemporary: Thomas Peperkamp

Thomas Peperkamp

The guitarist and composer Thomas Peperkamp (*1963) started to play the guitar as a teenager and finally fell in love with the classical guitar after listening to the music by Augustin Barrios (1885 - 1944). He studied guitar with Ton Hacket, Paul Schagen, Wim Pfister and Esther Steenbergen and attended master classes with amongst others David Russell and John Mills.

As long as he plays the guitar he has been composing as well. Peperkamp’s compositions have an obvious emphasis on melodic aspects, hardcore contemporary is rare in his compositions. He likes to experiment with classical forms of melody and accompaniment.
