Johann Christoph Pepusch

Johann Christian Pepusch (1667 – 1752) was born in Germany, but spent the major part of his life in England. He was a contemporary and even colleague (they worked for the same employer for some time) of Händel. Pepusch’s best known work is the music for The Beggar’s Opera, in those days a well-known satiric comical opera. Additionally, he wrote stage music, church music and a number of chamber music works.
