The Fifth van Ekseption
The fifth album -5- was intended to be a celebration album, didn’t Ekseption start its hit-career with Beethoven’s Fifth? Bach’s music was present in numbers (Siciliano, Vivace and Virginal), followed by Beethoven (Introduction and Finale) and Mozart (Alla Turca). This record was less popular with me, I did not like the jazzy pieces For Example/For Sure and Midbar Session.
I do remember Virginal very well, the track combined Bach’s D Minor Prelude with a ballad-like song, with the longest trumpet solo, Rein van den Broek ever performed in his complete Ekseption career.
