It is a joyful piece that shows a sharp contrast with the sometimes-miserable circumstances of those days. Being an artist under noble protection, you could not flee from this, because it was often a custom that you even followed your patron in battle. That was the reason why some musicians sometimes got the worst of it on the battlefield.
