Capriccio 4 (Op. 250) (Legnani)

Legnani’s 4 Capriccios Op. 250 is far less complex and difficult than its counterpart Op. 20. Yet it offers pleasant musical entertainment. As in most musical era’s, some musical forms were a la mode in the nineteenth century. Just like this Capriccio 4, a Polka (Polish Dance), which is already suggested by its name Tempo di Polacca. The piece has a strict three-quarter time and offers a few effects that are characteristic for a Polka, particularly the accents in the music. This piece requires some more practice, in particular with the chord transitions and a few scale passages.
