John Playford published The Dancing Master for the first time in 1651, a collection of English folk dances with musical performance and dance instructions. This collection continued to expand until the last book appeared in 1728. John Duarte arranged some of these Playford Tunes for solo guitar.
Goddesses is also known as the English folk song The Oak and the Ash. Duarte harmonizes the theme and adds a variation in the bass line.
