[Flute/Guitar]
During my brief career as an amateur-guitar teacher I have made some arrangements of classical pieces for a duo setting, with a relatively simple melody part and an accompaniment for the teacher. My aim was to start playing together as soon as possible.
La Bamba was a traditional Mexican song that became famous because of the setting by Ritchie Valens (1941 – 1959), a clear representative of the so-called Chicano Rock, pop music with Latin influences. Because I made this setting for beginners, I omitted the triplets and imitated their effect in semiquavers. The piece was very suitable for separation of melody and accompaniment. After some trickery with Sibelius, this duo was the result.
