Rondo (2) (Carulli)

This is a Rondo from one of the many works by Fernando Carulli, Op. 241 Nr. 10 to be precise. The number of works he managed to publish is almost hard to believe, in his time there was no technology for mass publication of scores. The Rondo has a classical structure: a repeating theme/refrain with some elaboration and an A minor section for contrast. The tempo is poco allegretto, but I think it is fun to speed it up a bit. Just try to avoid the ill-famous “sewing-machine” effect!

For a fine example of performance of classical music like this, listen to the interpretation of Mozart by the Japanese pianist Uchida. No offense, of course, but Mozart definitely has far more quality than Carulli. Still Uchida shows how to make this period of music interesting.
