Slaep, soete Slaep is a lullaby indeed! However, it appears to originate from a comedy play in which the white hero suddenly awakes as Black Peter!
Black Peter is the same traditional figure that is subject to a discrimination discussion in Holland, he is the servant of Sinterklaas and nowadays considered a representative of a discriminating role model for coloureds. In the days of Nicolas Vallet, apparently this was no problem, many Dutch entrepreneurs became rich in the slave trade.
Slavery has been abolished, at least in Holland. It is a long time ago, presently we only apply wage slavery ;-). An official excuse with financial compensation as required by the wokies, seems out of bounds to me.
